Assignment Overview

This project involved the design and documentation of a Type C steel portal frame warehouse and office complex at 12–50 Norton Road, Croydon, for SBI LLC, aligned with Swinburne University of Technology’s carbon-neutral objectives. The brief required a commercially viable, sustainable, and regulation-compliant development suitable for long-term operational use.

The design addressed site constraints, functional planning, and NCC 2022 compliance, incorporating ground-level parking, warehouse and office spaces, amenities, services, and fire safety provisions. Emphasis was placed on energy efficiency, material durability, and constructability, with multiple external façade materials selected to create a visually articulated commercial building.

Working collaboratively within a design team and with consultants, the project included structural modelling of a steel portal frame system, coordination of internal layouts, and confirmation of façade material suitability with a manufacturer. The final deliverables comprised a coordinated set of preliminary and construction drawings, technical details, schedules, a recorded client presentation, and a digital walkthrough.
